Divya Sekhar Vaka

Mr. Sekhar received a bachelor degree in Electronics and Communication Engineering and a master degree in Remote Sensing. His research is focussed on applying differential and time series interferometric techniques such as PSInSAR and SBAS to study urban subsidence and seismic displacements. He is also interested in working on DEM accuracy assessment and glacier velocity estimation.

Narayanarao Bhogapurapu

Mr. Narayana Rao received his bachelor’s degree in civil engineering and master’s in Remote sensing and GIS. As a PhD student, his current research is focused on the application of PolSAR data for soil moisture retrieval and large scale soil moisture mapping.

Nithyapriya Boopathi

Ms. Nithyapriya received her Masters degree in Civil Engineering. Currently, she is pursuing Doctoral degree in Soil Moisture Retrieval using P-band Radiometer Observations at IITB-Monash Research Academy.

Dr. Ushasi Chaudhuri

Alumni, CSRE, IIT Bombay

Dr. Chaudhuri received her Bachelor degree in electronics and telecommunication engineering from Mumbai University. She then received her masters degree from IIT Kharagpur, with her research thesis titled ‘Analysis of Document Images based on Rough Set Reducts’ in 2017. She is currently associated with the lab as a Ph. D. student in remote sensing image processing using deep learning techniques. Her current research is focused on content-based retrieval of very high resolution remote sensing (RS) data using Graph convolution networks. She is also working on designing a generalized framework for cross-modal retrieval of RS and multi-media data.

Dr. Venkata Sai Krishna

Alumni, CSRE, IIT Bombay

Dr. Venkata Sai Krishna received the bachelor degree (B.Tech) in Planning from Jawaharlal Nehru Architecture and Fine Arts University and a masters degree (M.Tech) in Remote Sensing and GIS with specialization in Human Settlement Analysis from the Indian Institute of Remote Sensing (IIRS, ISRO) and Andhra University (AU). As a Ph.D. student, his current research is focused on SAR based disaster management, Urban Expansion Monitoring. He is also working on various cloud platforms such as Google Earth Engine / ESA’s RSS CloudToolbox / EOfactory for rapid dissemination of SAR derived thematic products.

Dr. Subhadip Dey

Dr. Dey received the B.Tech. degree in agricultural engineering and M.Tech. degree in Aquacultural engineering. As a PhD student, his current research is focused on SAR polarimetry, agricultural applications, and cloud based processing chains (e.g. Google Earth Engine, Amazon AWS, Sentinel Playground).

Dr. Dipankar Mandal

Alumni, CSRE, IIT Bombay

Dr. Mandal received the Bachelor degree in agricultural engineering. He is currently associated with the lab as M.Tech and Ph. D. Dual degree student in remote sensing and GIS. His current research is focused on the crop biophysical parameter estimation by model inversions using PolSAR data. He is also involved in the quantitative assessment of novel vegetation indices for Quad and compact-pol SAR data for crop condition monitoring. He is also working on ingestion of SAR and Optical data in a cloud platform such as Google Earth Engine/AWS for crop mapping and monitoring.

Dr. Debanshu Ratha

Dr. Ratha received the Masters of Science in Mathematics. He is currently working towards Ph. D. degree with research focuses on Microwave Remote Sensing applications, specifically Polarimetric SAR Remote Sensing at the Centre of Studies in Resources Engineering (CSRE), at IIT Bombay.

Dr. Vineet Kumar

Alumni, CSRE, IIT Bombay

Dr. Kumar received the Bachelor degree in electronics and communication engineering and the Master degree in remote sensing and GIS. He completed his Ph.D. degree from the Centre of Studies in Resources Engineering (CSRE) at IIT Bombay, Mumbai, India, in 2019. He worked on the quantitative comparison of full and compact polarimetric SAR data for agricultural applications. The compact polarimetric mode is very recent for earth-observing SAR satellites such as RISAT-1 and ALOS-2 mission. For same, he has analyzed simulated temporal RADARSAT-2 compact-pol SAR data for various crops. Dr. Kumar is currently working as a Post Doctoral Research Fellow at Delft University, The Netherlands.

Dr. Siddharth Hariharan

Alumni, CSRE, IIT Bombay

Dr. Hariharan received his Bachelor of Engineering (B.E) degree in electronics and telecommunications from the University of Mumbai, Mumbai, India in 2007. He completed his M.Tech in geoinformatics and natural resources engineering and Ph.D. degree from the Centre of Studies in Resources Engineering (CSRE) at IIT Bombay, Mumbai, India, in 2010 and 2018 respectively. He has worked in the field of geoinformatics over the last decade, with particular attention in the domain of satellite image processing and microwave remote sensing using polarimetric SAR datasets. He has contributed novel research for Earth Observation applications in the field of urban area classification, crop classification and mineral prospectivity mapping during his doctoral work. Dr. Siddharth is currently working as an Assistant Professor at Terna Engineering College, Mumbai.

Dr. Arnab Muhuri

Alumni, CSRE, IIT Bombay

Dr. Muhuri holds a Bachelors in Electrical Engineering, Master of Technology in Statistical Modelling of Satellite Images, and Doctor of Philosophy in Algorithms for Remote Satellite Earth Observation in 2018. For his exemplary research contribution in the domain of Development of Algorithms for Satellite Earth Observation Over Hindu-Kush Himalayas, he was conferred upon the Award for Excellence in PhD Research by the Honourable Prime Minister of India, at the Institute Convocation of IIT Bombay. In recognition for his scientific contributions, Dr. Muhuri was awarded the coveted Alexander von Humboldt Fellowship by the Government of the Federal Republic of Germany, and currently holding a position of PostDoctoral researcher in the domain of Remote Sensing of Cryosphere at Heidelberg University.

Dr. Shaunak De

Alumni, CSRE, IIT Bombay

Dr. De received the B.E. degree in electronics engineering from the University of Mumbai, Mumbai, India, in 2012, graduating as a gold medalist. He completed his Ph. D. in geoinformatics and natural resources engineering from the Centre of Studies in Resources Engineering (CSRE) at IIT Bombay, Mumbai, India, in 2018. His doctoral research was focused on polarimetric SAR, machine learning, and information theory. Currently, he is working as Data Scientist at Orbital Insight, San Francisco, California.

Dr. Surendar Manickam

Alumni, CSRE, IIT Bombay

Dr. Manickam received the M.Sc degree in physics from the Periyar University, Salem, India, and the M.Tech degree in remote sensing from the Anna University, Chennai, India, in 2008 and 2011, respectively. He received the Ph.D. degree from the Centre of Studies in Resources Engineering, Indian Institute of Technology Bombay, Mumbai, India, in 2016. Later he worked as an Alexander von Humboldt Postdoctoral Research Fellow with the Institut für Geographie, Friedrich-Alexander-Universität Erlangen-Nürnberg, Erlangen, Germany from 2016-2018. Currently, he is PostDoctoral Associate at Duke University, Durham, United States. His research interests include the study of bio/geophysical parameters using polarimetric synthetic aperture radar data.
